ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಉಪ್ಪಿನಕಾಯಿ ಯಾತಕ್ಕೂ ಬೇಡ ūṭakke illada uppinakāyi yātakkū bēḍa (prov.) a thing, however valuable it is, becomes useless if not got when it is required; advice after injury is like medicine after death; ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ಗಾದೆ, ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲು ಉಪ್ಪಿನಕಾಯಿ mātige modla gāde, ūṭakke modalu uppinakāyi (prov.)
